Bluff Cemetery

We visited Bluff, Utah. It rocked.

A spooky cemetery sits on a harsh and desolate bluff in Bluff, Utah. The skeletal remains of Pioneer settlers lay in wait as winds whispered over the dusty rock. Heat bubbles over the gravel, and plants sufficate among the stones. The town below holds vigil, waiting for the dead to rise and pass judgment over the living. Indeed, the surface of the craggy formations that surround the city like prison gates were formed in the devil’s cauldron. Okay, I might be amplifying the scariness a smidge since this is a town comprised mainly of kindly Mormons. But I had to try. Follow my foot bones…

The town of Bluff sits beside the San Juan River.

Here lie beautiful rocks piled deep on a lonely grave.

A semi-spooky book promo. Bluff, Utah, was our encampment while visiting Monument Valley and the environs.

Happy Halloween!

  1. I love how you described the spooky vibe of Bluff Cemetery. The winds and those craggy formations really make it feel like a scene out of a ghost story! It’s cool to think about all the history there with the pioneers. 🎃👻

  2. Bluff is a perfect place to be this time of year. Can you imagine the stories buried in that ground? Only the rocks can tell them, and they are quiet, too. It’s a dusty, hot, thirsty area, but oh, the view. Your description posted is g-r-e-a-t!
