The best amenities at Crazy Woman Cottage, our rental in Moab, belong outdoors. Hello, 1980; you can have your lumpy, hard mattress back. Beyond the bed, the place is fine, but the outside is really where it shines. You can see the snowy peaks of the La Sal mountain range out the front door, and opening the sliders out back dumps you onto a local trail system that meanders to a globby, craggy mesa. We hiked the trail on our first full day and investigated ancient petroglyphs that few tourists get to see. The sun sets over the canyon at day’s end, and the sky glows orange until much later when the dark Moab skies reveal bright stars. Follow my feet…

The desert varnish is faded and worn, but it still reveals Native American pictographs and petroglyphs.
The big-headed floaters look like aliens!

We were also recently in Moab – although probably on more well-trodden tourism paths than you. We didn’t see these petroglyphs, but we really liked the landscape there too!

I’ll take a lumpy bed to get those views any day! Love those glyphs. The glyphs in that area are unique, and very different from those I see in the S CA desert.
