Dominicalito is my favorite beach in Costa Rica. I even published a travel article in Ballena Tales, the local tourist magazine, about the joy of the big D. Every beach is unique in Costa Rica, which translates to rich coast. Indeed, Costa Rica is loaded with loveliness.
Dominicalito is notable because it’s a working beach where old fishing boats net boatloads of fish every night. By day, the rustic boats sit moored on the shore, reeking of guts and attracting plenty of vultures. But, the activity makes the beach dynamic and lends itself to photo opportunities. The sand is like velvet. A cool stream crosses the grand expanse, just like every other beach. There are no parking issues; anywhere will do. You’ll always find a patch of shade to slap a chair and read a good book. At high tide, the surfers roam the waves. But the low tide is my favorite when you can take a delightful walk and dip in enormous tidepools. You’ve seen this beach numerous times on Sharon’s Souvenirs, but here are my photos from 2024…
Stay tuned for more from Moab…

Beautiful! I would love to be that dog, stretched out on the cool damp sand without a care in the world.
