Memories from Minnesota

We’re moving to Florida!

We’re moving to Florida! Politics aside, I’m thrilled to leave nasty Minnesota winters behind. Goodbye, frigid fingers, slippery sidewalks, and pothole-riddled snowy streets. Hello, eternal sunshine, swaying palms, mockingbirds, swimming pools with bouncing senior ladies, crowded beaches, red tide, and snarled traffic with aggressive aging drivers. Plus, there’s humidity. But I love humidity! I love the ocean, too.

Even though we’ll still live in Minnesota during the summer, the pending move prompted me to visit the archives and post favorable Minnesota memories. There’s plenty. Follow my feet…

Stay tuned for Minnesota Memories part 2 and 3. Have a meaningful Memorial Day!

  1. Hello,
Congrats on the move! I can understand the need to get away from the harsh winters. Your Minnesota photos are beautiful, love the bird, deer and the flowers and scenery! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a wonderful week!

  2. Enjoy the milder winters. Just be aware that people are going to look at you funny when you complain (to the people in Minnesota) about how cold you are when it’s 60 degrees out. I’m in California. Oh, the mocking. They do. So much mocking. But when it doesn’t freeze, ever, your body gets unused to actual cold. And the parkas come out when the high is going to be 60. I’m not kidding.

  3. And the Hurricanes. Don’t forget the hurricanes 🙂 And we do have some freezing weather but it’s usually for only a few days. Where are you moving to? I’m in Florida. A transplant but from many years ago.

  4. Congratulations on your move (politics aside.) Florida and Minnesota are both great states. I haven’t spent much time there but people seem to love it.
Years ago I was sent up there with another guy to look at building a pipeline. I was the translator between my coworker and the county officials along the proposed route. He had a deep south accent and the officials couldn’t understand what he was saying and he had the same problem with them so I translated for both sides.

  5. Congrats on your relocation to Florida! It’s great that you’ll have the opportunity to spend summers in Minnesota. I understand you prefer tropical weather over cold temperatures, so this arrangement is ideal. It’s common for New Yorkers to eventually settle in Florida – even my high school pals reside there and love it.
