When I graduated from UW Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin, I never would have imagined I’d still be traveling there after all these years. I never stopped. The Red Cedar Bike Trail is my favorite Midwest trail. The epic trail system near Lanesboro, Minnesota, might be mightier, smoother, and even more scenic, but there’s something special about my old-school stomping grounds. We always have fun, eating Ted’s Pizza just like I did over thirty years ago while studying in my dorm room and enjoying a small town where technicolor petunias hang on light poles like the ball drop on New Year’s Eve. What is it with petunias and small towns? Obviously, it’s a mandatory display.

Look at this sleeping cygnet. So cute.

The end of The Red Cedar Trail. And it really is since it’s our last ride of the season in Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Hello,
Looks like a great day on the Red Cedar Trail. Pretty scenery and great captures of the swans, frog and turtle.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.

What a beautiful place, and you do take very striking photos of your biking day.
There’s something nostalgic about going back to your college neighborhood. It looks like a lovely place.
Looks lovely. A place I’d like to visit.

There is a certain satisfaction in returning to old haunts, as long as they harbour fond memories. It looks quite idyllic there. Lovely pictures.
Dear Sharon, I’m not surprised that you keep coming back to this area – it’s very charming and there’s wonderful nature to see. Your photos are stunning!
All the best from Austria, Traude

I find going back to places from your past is always a two edged sword. So many memories, and not all of them are rosy! Your journey looked great. Hope it was fun – it seems to have been!

I am interested in the post and enjoyed reading about your way.
I’m very happy about the contribution to MosaicMonday again, thank you for that. Kind regards from Heidrun
Beautiful photos and it looks like an awesome trail! There’s something wonderful about having a long term “relationship” with a place that is special to you.
Beautiful shots.
What a charming tribute to Menomonie and the Red Cedar Bike Trail! It’s lovely to see how the nostalgia for your college days has evolved into a cherished tradition. The contrast between the old-school comfort of Ted’s Pizza and the vibrant small-town charm is delightful. And those technicolor petunias—definitely a small-town must-have! Thanks for sharing these memories and the adorable cygnet.
