Mount St. Francis

Be a deer, and read this...

The Franciscan Retreat Center, established by the Sisters of St. Francis, is the former home of a Tuberculocious Sanitorium, and across the grounds, multiple stone buildings sprawl beneath the Colorado Rockies at around 7,000 feet in elevation. Shaggy deer grazed nonstop around the property, and it was a joy to see them close up. I loved to read in the peace garden, but between the uber-social schedule and writing retreat workshops, I ran on fumes the whole week and failed to capture the beauty properly with my iPhone. I had plenty of time to sleep, but it eluded me. The social activities left me amped. Plus, I have Misophonia, so the week proved difficult. But I did it!

Follow my pen…

There were so many deer, we’d even see them passing by the windows while we worked, and staring at their reflection.

Better than gin, you say? Well, you haven’t tried Cedar Boreal by Vikre. Freebies, snacks, and swag arrived all week like beads during Mardi Gras.

I loved the funny cat graphic. Best selling author Jess Lourey and mystery author Erica Ruth Neubauer ran the show.

Me with new friends on a hike at nearby Garden of the Gods.

Mosaic Monday

Home again, and flying over Lake Minnetonka, enroute to MSP.

So, did I learn to deal with the small indignities of writerly obscurity? Perhaps. But hopefully I learned how to rocket my writing into the stratosphere, just like my book cover. 🙂

Have a meaningful Memorial Day!
