Tucson: Week 2

We checked every box in Tucson.
Day 10

The Cascabel Trail.

We checked every box in Tucson. The land of teddy bear cholla, paddle cactus, and saguaro sentinels is behind us. Tucson is not as breathtaking as Sedona, but the view is mountainous and craggy if you stay near Saguaro National Park. At Mesquite Hills, beautiful and bristly peaks surround the neighborhood. I expected to see a cougar walking the ridgeline or the silhouette of old-time cowboys preparing for a shoot-em-up. My favorite hike was the not-to-be-missed Bowen House Trail. It followed a river wash winding up a deep canyon, culminating at an abandoned brick structure with desert views.

But every day was hiking nirvana. Follow my feet…

Day 11

The Ironwood Trail.

Day 12

A beautiful desert pyrrhuloxia.

Day 13

The view from Sentinel Peak. We stayed in the foothills of the craggy, blue cliffs.

Day 14

An odd bird at the zoo!

Day 15

Mission San Xavier del Bac

Day 16

The Bowen House Trail. There’s a desert view from every window of this old ruin.

Day 17

The Camaro Loop Trail has a moniker that’s no mystery.

Day 18

Sunrise in Sedona. Now we’re staying at the base of chimney rock. Stay tuned!
