We stopped by Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada on our way to Bryce Canyon last summer. We didn’t have time for a hike, but we drove through the park, hitting all the visual highlights. Ancient petroglyphs, petrified trees, dissolving rock faces, and painted desert ensued. Follow our feet…

This texture looks like Freddy Krueger’s face.

Petroglyphs for Mosaic Monday.

I always bring my book and leave a copy somewhere along my travels. A promo photo near petroglyphs is a perfect pairing because the spirals I’ve seen in many southwestern petroglyphs inspired my book cover.

Stay tuned for much, much more from Utah and Arizona.

Another fascinating trip. And the reference to Freddy Krueger naturally makes me smile.
It’s a truly charming idea, dear blogfriend Sharon, to leave one of your books here and there. I’m sure there’s a grateful reader out there.
Thank you for your post on MosaicMonday.
Greetings by Heidrun
The rocks with all the holes look so creepy.
wonderful landscapes. and I love your gesture leaving your book at places you visit. such an original idea.
A fascinating state park! The perforated stones are particularly impressive. And – UH! – Freddy Krueger’s face 😱
All the best after my long blogging break, Traude

Sharon – until I lived in the desert, I never thought much of it. Then we were blessed to spend three years in Gilbert, Arizona before that area exploded. Hikes in the Superstition Mountains gave me a new appreciation for the beauty of rocks!!! Your photos are gorgeous!
What a beautiful set of photos! I especially love the shot where the texture “looks like Freddy Krueger’s face”, you have such a fun imagination!
Beautiful shot.
Beautiful shots of a beautiful place. Hubby and I would love exploring here. What a fun adventure.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥
Beautiful photos of stunning scenery.
Beautiful photos! We also have red rock formations near us, and they truly add to the scenery!
The petroglyphs always fascinate me. The landscape is beautiful and the rocks remind me of cheese. Thank you for linking up and have a great weekend.
The twists and turns of these rock formations are marvelous as is your idea of leaving your book behind as a gift during your travels.
What a spectacular area to capture!
Looks like a beautiful place. I had never heard of it until a couple years ago and now I see lots about it.
Amazing formations.
