As soon as we arrived at Marisol, a jungly condo clinging to the hills above Dominicalito, Costa Rica, we had a cat. She arrived like a gusty day, when all is balmy except for the occasional swirly wind that steals your hat and whips your shirt over your belly button. I named her Mischief because she knocked over our garbage to eat the chicken bones I’d discarded after making soup. Maybe that’s why she loved us immediately. We smelled too darn good. Mischief was clean and healthy and around six months old. Skinny and full of vinegar. She’d lie cuddled by my side, and if I weren’t petting her head and chin, she’d slap my fingers while they massaged a keyboard. We had to put her out at night, and for three mornings, she’d run back in like her tail was on fire as soon as we slid open the doors. But on the fourth morning, Mischief didn’t come running.
Later, my husband saw her curled up on someone else’s patio where a food and water bowl lingered. We never saw mischief again. And we’d already fallen in love. It will remain a mystery whether she belonged to one of the guests all along or if someone else fell in love with her and took her home.
The Mystery of Mischief for Mosaic Monday.

I love this! I’m sure you’ve seen it.

The count down to launch is on!

Hello Sharon,
What a sweet kitty! I hope the kitty has a loving forever home.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your day and happy 1st week of March. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
I hope Mischief has a good home. I’m sure the cat enjoyed their time with you.
What a sweet face! Looks like she had a wonderful few days being loved by you both.
Love this Story. The wonderful posts on
MosaicMonday inspire and distract me every time…
…thank you very much for the wonderful contribution here, which I enjoyed, and for the nice comment on my link party, I’m delighted.
Awww….I hope she has a good home. I would have fallen in love with her, too! Thank you for linking up.
I loved reading this, but for me a mystery is better solved, than mystifying me forevermore. I wish you well with the book launch. Desiree Horton makes it sound so mysteriously exciting.
oh I did love this story. Cats have a mind of their own. They say dogs have owners and cats have staff. ENjoy your weekend. I am visiting from Thankful Thursday.
Cute little marking on her nose. Mischief sounds like she goes wherever opportunity takes her!
I think it is important to adopt a holiday cat or two! There was one at one of the hotels I just used in India that was so similar to one of my own cats I really did do a double take when it walked it.
Hope all is well.

How joyous was Michief?! Holiday cats are like grandkids; they are wonderful to have in your lives, and then they go home! Congratulations on your book launch!
Have a great day!
