Best Friends Animal Sanctuary

Cemetery month began last week, but today’s post is anything but spooky. According to Tripadvisor, the number one activity in Kanab, Utah, is a visit to The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. We didn’t take an outdoor bus tour due to the extreme heat, but we enjoyed learning about the mission, petting some kittens, and buying a t-shirt or two to support the facility. It’s more than just cats and dogs; it’s a whole ranch of rescue animals of all shapes and sizes that have plenty of desert to roam forever, even into eternity. Follow my hooves…

We spent time in the petting place. Mosaic Monday

As we drove through the sprawling property, we came across the most charming cemetery in the world. If not for the outdoor inferno, I would have taken more photos. Be sure to follow the link at the end of this post to listen to the cemetery wind chimes….

Each grave, for every animal, was decorated with thought and care.

I’ve embedded a link to my Instagram page in the photo above. Please visit and scroll to play my cemetery chimes reel, which is sure to bring you peace. I can’t imagine a better resting place for cats and dogs, and if I could rest amid a field of windchimes, I’d choose that for eternity in a heartbeat. Why don’t human cemeteries adopt this charming chime idea?

  4. Dont really want to think about the time when my cats will need such a place – but given that they will inevitably move on, this would be a great place for them to lie.

    cheers, Stewart M – Melbourne
