Guatemala: Literary Inspiration

A dream about levitation inspired me to write The Levitation Game. But Guatemala inspired the setting.

A dream about levitation inspired me to write The Levitation Game. But Guatemala inspired the setting. I’ve infused travel into all my books. While I was in Sedona, Arizona, researching my first book, I had the dream that inspired my upcoming novel. After deciding on the concept for TLG, I needed a remote location to place my characters during the climax. But how many genuinely remote locations are there left in the world? Guatemala has a mysterious location that was perfect for my other-worldly needs. Maybe you will take a literary journey to the secret location by reading my book someday.

Until then, you can revisit the highlights of my Guatemala trip here. Follow my feet…

Every morning this grey fox would wait for scraps of bread at the restaurant where we stayed.
Cathedral ruins in Antigua.
A jungle cemetery.
I love this photo. We had just arrived in Antigua, and I snapped a quick photo, catching these colorful local ladies passing under the iconic arch.

A beautiful trogon.

The suspension bridge seems really scary to walk on.
The clothes of the ladies are really colorful.
The fox and the butterfly are super.
    Greetings Irma

  4. You were lucky enough to capture the ladies wearing their colorful outfits under the arch. Fox is adorable. We used to have a campfire outside in Wisconsin with guests. The children guests would always want marshmallows, graham crackers and Hershey chocolate bars on a stick over the fire for fun. Fox in the area would come by and being kids that want to share the fox looked like they were foaming at the mouth. Adorable! but…..probably the sugar wasn’t good for them. Fox are curious little creatures. So cute.
