We passed Wilson Arch on our way to the Needles district in the southeast corner of Canyonlands National Park. So often, tourists don’t have time to visit anything but Arches National Park, and that’s too bad because there’s so much to enjoy in Canyonlands. This post continues our quest to see it all but not to hike it all. Not with my crappy feet. Follow my lens…

On a previous day, we hiked to the end of the distant red mesa behind the gnarly tree bones, and looked out upon this sea of striated stone.

Needles. I love this photo.

Ancient hand prints

Yes, I climbed this ladder!

A gnarled tree skeleton.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures, Sharon.
I really enjoyed admiring them.
Happy Wednesday!
The dead tree looks as if it died in agony. The rock formations in the photo above the handprints look like giant toadstools. I hope one day to visit Canyonlands and Joshua Tree.
Lovely photos 😀
A journey into the past. I enjoyedreading. Glad you share this at

thank you for being part of this Linkparty.
Wonderful arch.
WOW! Everything is simply amazing!
That ladder looks like it would be a tricky climb. I’m fascinated by ancient handprints. Wilson Arch looks like a big one!
The desert is calling and I must go!!
Gorgeous!
Recently visited Arches, but had trouble with the altitude, since I have a lung condition. Sorry to not have had a chance to go to Canyonlands also. I think I saw Newspaper Rock back in the 70s, and am so glad that it’s still there, giving all that information from the ancestors to us today!
Congratulations on climbing up that ladder. Did you go down it too? I love the desert. You took some mighty fine photographs. I was 13 years old when I visited Needles, AZ. It was so HOT!
