Picnic with the Spheres

See the mysterious stone spheres of Costa Rica...

We toured the Site Museum Farm Six (I’ll post those images later) to see the mysterious stone spheres of Costa Rica. The museum is on the grounds of a former banana plantation, where workers unearthed near perfectly round stones as small as a few inches alongside sixteen-ton behemoths. Why were they created? No one knows for sure. If you’ve read my novel, you’ll know I love the supernatural, so obviously, they were air-dropped by alien geologists who love symmetry. But if that’s too far-fetched, I also like the theory that they are celestial markers or star maps.

Tourists can see the stones anywhere in Costa Rica, like this park in Palmarsur where we had a post-museum picnic. Follow our feet…

We brought a homemade peanut rice chicken bowl, and ate it alongside the spheres. It’s Mosaic Monday!

A kiskadee atop a sphere. I love this photo.

Yay! I’m a finalist for the 2023 Indies Book of the Year Awards! Being selected from hundreds or thousands of entries will sustain me for months. Click below to see the full list of sci-fi finalists.

  1. Hello,
Love the macaw and the kiskadee. The spheres are an interesting find. The blossoms are pretty.
Great post and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your day and have a great week!

  2. I would have been there as much for the birds (that lovely kiskadee) and blooms than the spheres, so I looked up the spheres and found some more info on the Unesco website. It’s a shame that there has been looting associated with these spheres. Congratulations on your nomination.

  3. Beautiful cannonball flowers. Actually, the fruits of the cannonball tree resemble the stones you found there. Maybe the sculptor got inspired by the fruits lying under the tree and decided to spread their beauty.

  4. Congratulations on being a finalist for your book. I guess might have to get a copy and read it.

I love your stone spheres. I love a good mystery.

  5. Beautiful macaws
