Strange things happened during our week on the East Coast, like a baby opossum that wandered onto our patio while we ate lunch. The tiny thing tried to climb an end table to get near our food. I hope Mom was simply sleeping somewhere, opossums being nocturnal. Then, there was the night of deranged sirens and dozens of cop cars careening through the streets en route to some disaster. Turns out, there was a shooting near the pier. Yikes! We went there almost every night and enjoyed Pompano’s massive pier full of fishermen, tourists, and hungry, tame Pelicans. The wind kicked up the waves during our stay, and surfers loved it. We did, too. Follow our feet…

Pelican Selfie

“A new poll found that 43 percent of Americans think President Obama is doing a good job at handling the BP oil spill. Of course, the same poll found that 43 percent of Americans hate pelicans.” ~ Jimmy Fallon

Love the cute pelican selfie. I love the pelicans, great collection of photos.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post.
Take care, have a happy day and a great week ahead!
Lovely pelican!
Pelicans are huge. I saw one the last time I was on the Huntington Beach pier, and wow. You wouldn’t think they’d let us get so close, but apparently they do.
Gorgeous shots! Makes me yearn for a beach trip.

I love those pelican close-ups. Like he’s posing for you!
Lovely shots from your trip.
What great birds pelicans are – there will be some Australian ones on WBW in the coming weeks!

I love, love the portrait of the Pelicans.
Nice shot of the pelican. Some time at the beach is always great, I think. Thank you for linking up and have a great week ahead.
That pelican is working the camera! Clearly knows its angles. You’ve been photobombed by a pro.
Pompano Beach is one of my favorite areas in Broward County. Did you make it to Lighthouse Point, just north of Pompano Beach? It’s a beautiful area. If you ever go back, go eat at Cap’s Place on the water. It’s definitely “old Florida”.
