There are no sharks in Shark Valley. The park lives along the Shark River, and you’ll find it inside Everglades National Park. We visited to bike the fifteen-mile loop trail. But there’s a narrated tram tour for those who like nature filled with humans. I don’t. I prefer alligators, and I wasn’t disappointed. There were so many lurking on the trail I lost count at sixty. Big ones. Medium size. Small ones. Every single alligator was sleeping like a cute little kitten. But what if I accidentally biked over a prehistoric tail? First, a sleepy eye opens. Then a toothy jaw smiles like a scaly Cheshire cat before I’m thrust through the swamp by my cleats. I don’t have many photos of them, because I whizzed by them curiously fast, with intention. Follow my feet…
A hidden blue heron.
It’s a truly unique ride! Come early and don’t miss this toothy Florida experience.
The Everglades is a cool national park. We saw so many they were piled on top of each other.
Great collection of photos! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and happy new week!
I’ve only seen alligators behind Plexiglass in zoos. And, frankly, that’s the only way I’d care to see them. They’re rather scary to me.

Sounds like Shark Valley is quite the wild ride! The idea of biking through a place filled with lurking alligators is definitely not for the faint of heart!
Happy Tuesday, Sharon!
I love your perspective, hilarious and informative.
Beautiful captures. Good thing you didn’t linger around the crocs to take pictures! They must have been waiting to take your snaps (pun intended)
Quite an adventure and some very lovely photos too! Aloha!
Great shots.
Yeah, I think I’d whiz by the alligators, too. I wouldn’t want to get all that close to them. Otherwise, it looks like a nice place to bike.
WOW amazing, never heard of this before, and I am sure its worth a visit
I visited you via TRAVEL TUESDAY 430 – MT OLYMPUS, GREECE
My link: 13+14. I hope you will join us weekly at Wed-Sat at #WordlessWednesday (words welcome) https:// esmesalon . com / tag / – hope to see you there
I envy you being able to ride your bike along that trail! I’d rather see gators without people, but the tram is a nice alternative for those of us who can’t do that. Hope you’re enjoying your new Florida home away from home. It’s been rainy over here since we got back
Great shots, but l’ d be skared to ride my bike past these aligators.
This post brings back memories of my own visit to Shark Valley.
Worth a Thousand Words
Best to keep your wits about there. A beautiful place for basking gators.
I love that walkway bridge. You can see the wildlife without danger! I would not want to be as close as biking by them!
I would love to visit the Everglades someday. That’s a retirement adventure for us and it is so far away. When we were in central Florida we went to a bird preserve that was also filled with alligators, and they were on the roads/paths a lot too.
