Day 8. A scenic overlook further afield up our jungle road.
Week two started with our second prolonged power outage. We didn’t want to open the fridge, so instead of drinking tea and eating breakfast, we went for a nature walk, and were rewarded with howler monkeys (not shown) monkeying around in the trees behind our jungle rental. Black furry howler babies clung to their mothers’ bellies, sporadically reaching into the canopy to grab a tasty treat.
The week’s highlights included a panoramic (is there any other kind of view in Costa Rica?) drive over the dusty spine of a mountain to visit the Boruca Indians, and random cave and beach frolicking, per the usual. I baked two rum cakes, chocolate and vanilla. Yum. Rum! Follow my feet…
Day 9
Morning aracaris.
Day 10
Day 11
Day 12
Day 13 at Ventanas, and absolute beach nirvana. Where should I leave a copy of my book? There are no little libraries in Costa Rica. Click my book to visit my Amazon page.
Day 14 was an adventure! Click the mask to visit Mosaic Monday. Do you see the skinny road atop the mountain spine? The road to Boruca was better than we expected, but it was still a thrill. I bought a mot mot indian mask to add to my colorful collection of Boruca art. The tribe is so talented, capturing the beauty of birds, animals, and the flora and fauna in Costa Rica.
Stay tuned!
Hello,
I love the Howler Monkeys, they bring memories of my Costa Rica trip. Pretty flowers and butterfly.
Great capture of the toucan! Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead.
What a beautiful beetle! Love its markings.

Marvelous captures!
These are fantastic! The aracari’s beak, the Callipogon image, and the way you captured the howler monkey are all standouts.
Wow, life in paradise!! Not developed, so much the better.
Beautiful photos and narrative. The monkey looks like a Capuchin, no?
Funnily enough, I just had a class studying Costa Rica last week. Stunning images.
Your nature walk with howler monkeys and the scenic mountain drive to the Boruca Indians sound like incredible experiences, Sharon.
Fabulous photos as always!
What delightful creatures! Aloha
This is gorgeous, love the lush and vibrant colors of the aracari bird
