We spent Labor Day in Menomonie at a wooded and well-appointed rental in the countryside. I still couldn’t bike on the nearby Red Cedar Trail, so we walked, revisited a local cave, and went to a nearby orchard. Follow my feet…

Cain’s Orchard environs. I grew up near Cain’s, in this bucolic land. It’s where my spooky novel, Chorus of Crows takes place. Does this area look scary? You’ll think so by the end of this post.

I’ve never seen a mushroom quite like this hum-dinger.

Crystal Cave for Mosaic Monday

Already? This was Labor Day, after all….

Boo!

P.S. We finally biked again on a sultry October weekend, rolling over the Chippewa Trail and the Red Cedar Trail. Then we left for Florida. Hooray!

“I went into Chorus of Crows expecting a creepy rural thriller. What I got? Something that crawled into my head, rearranged the furniture, and refused to leave.” ~ Jonathon Gruner
