Menomonie Mash-Up

I'm going old school...

When I graduated from UW Stout in Menomonie, Wisconsin, I never would have imagined I’d still be traveling there after all these years. I never stopped. The Red Cedar Bike Trail is my favorite Midwest trail. The epic trail system near Lanesboro, Minnesota, might be mightier, smoother, and even more scenic, but there’s something special about my old-school stomping grounds. We always have fun, eating Ted’s Pizza just like I did over thirty years ago while studying in my dorm room and enjoying a small town where technicolor petunias hang on light poles like the ball drop on New Year’s Eve. What is it with petunias and small towns? Obviously, it’s a mandatory display.

Follow my feet…

Look at this sleeping cygnet. So cute.

The end of The Red Cedar Trail. And it really is since it’s our last ride of the season in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

  5. What a charming tribute to Menomonie and the Red Cedar Bike Trail! It’s lovely to see how the nostalgia for your college days has evolved into a cherished tradition. The contrast between the old-school comfort of Ted’s Pizza and the vibrant small-town charm is delightful. And those technicolor petunias—definitely a small-town must-have! Thanks for sharing these memories and the adorable cygnet.
