Sharon’s Souvenirs

"If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform one million realities." ~
Maya Angelou

Another blue heron waiting on the shore at Lover’s Key.

Today’s header shot is from the original Sharon’s Souvenirs blog. When I spotted the bird standing impatiently beside a fisherman on Lover’s Key, I zoomed in on its face. We all know and love the slender bird’s profile, but when you capture them head on, they look curiously comical. Ahhhh, Lover’s Key. Ever since we bought my in-laws condo and moved to Naples in the winter, those precious seaside November days at Lover’s Key live only in memory. It was the best part of my life, while I still had good feet and could walk for miles barefoot along the shore, reveling in photo safaris and sea shelling until I became rich with sand dollars.

The reason I’m reminiscing today is my old travel blog surpassed one million visits last weekend! It’s fun to get lookie loos from all over the world. Occasionally I repost a popular post on my old blog because the darn thing still gets thousands of visits per day, wildly exceeding this one. My blogging content has changed a lot over the years. At first, I posted about my art, cooking, and crafts until I switched to travel. When I started my blog, I was a children’s book illustrator, and now I’m an award-winning author. It’s true! I may not be selling millions of books yet, but I won gold at Foreword INDIES and caught an honorable mention at Writer’s Digest. Now I paint with so many words that I can’t contain them all in one place.

Did you know that I have five blogs? Five. And even though I don’t post new content on some of them, they still get a lot of traffic.

Sharon’s Souvenirs = The original travel blog with over a million visits!

Sharon’s Souvenirs 2.0 = The obviously elite, but largely unknown travel log hidden within my author website. Sigh.

My Third Eye = Just travel photo collages and such.

Chorus of Crows = No, not my book, my blog! I created them both at the same time. These days, I call the blog my author newsletter graveyard. It’s where old newsletters go to die. But really, I’m extending their life. I love that the unsubscribed can still read my short stories, creative content, and author news. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.

Sharon’s Studio = My art and soul. Cute illustrations and such.

If you’re feeling sentimental or curious, be sure to check them out…

The Levitation Game won gold. Will Chorus of Crows win anything? I just hope the horror story inspired by my dad’s real-life battle with Parkinson’s wins a few hearts. It won a starred review at Independent Book Review.
