Fishing!

“Fishing is boring, unless you catch an actual fish, and then it is disgusting.” Dave Barry

We watched the stinky activities from a cowardly and respectful distance while taking photos. Every night, boats ply the waters around Dominicalito, Costa Rica, and the nocturnal fisherman don’t return until morning. From the jungle hillside above the beach, we watch the boats depart at sunset, and then later, after dark, we count the number of lights and note their location. We always wonder what they’re catching, and sometimes when we walk on the beach at sunrise we find out. On this day, it was orange roughy.

The fishermen’s kids helped to clean and carry every fish to a refrigerated truck. But I don’t need to describe the process because you can see it all here…

“Last year I went fishing with Salvador Dali. He was using a dotted line. He caught every other fish.” Steven Wright

  1. Hello,
    Great collection of photos. I like eating fish but I do not like fishing.
    Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great day and week ahead.

  2. Hello :=)

    Great atmosphere in your photos, and colour. It looks like it was a good catch. The fish are enormous! The way they are carried, much like a bag with handle is interesting.
