The moody Naples Pier earlier this month. I love this photo.
Today, I’m posting the remnants of our Florida adventures from the end of 2023, culminating with last night’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display on the beach. First, there was a fiery sunset and then another explosive display. It was the best New Year’s Eve we’ve ever experienced because we usually don’t do anything. First, we packed a Long Island iced tea and picked up Saffron Chicken Khorma from 21 Spices and enjoyed a beach picnic beside the hoards of beachgoers. After the fireworks, we walked around Old Naples and listened to street music and a chorus of nightbugs. At midnight, we lay in bed, annoyed by all the reveling. Per the usual! Follow my feet…
The Naples Pier was partially destroyed by hurricane Ian.
This guy thinks sharing the trail at Rookery Swamp is overrated. In Febuary, I’ll share our biking adventures in Shark Valley. It’s more like Alligator Alley, trust me.
Briggs Nature Trail. There were dozens of Wood Storks lurking about but I didn’t have anything but my iphone. Ahead is a white egret. (I know the difference!)
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Sharon! Beautiful photos, love the sky and pier images. Cool captures of the gators, love the Egret. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. I wish you lots of fun adventures in 2024.
Happy New Year 2024 to you and your family.
I love that moody first image too! The alligator, though – I admit I prefer to see them behind glass at a zoo!

Wow, that was a little close to the alligator. I hope that was just a super zoom on your camera.
All gorgeous captures!
Happy New Year!
Naples vibes hittin’ hard! Love the fiery sunset, exploding fireworks, and the gator shots! Happy New Year!
Top shots.
Incredible photos as always, Sharon!
OMG, that was quite a close encounter with the alligator!
Happy 2024!
Wow, what a time you had. Picking up chicken and sitting on a beach and then strolling around town. I’m totally jealous, kind of. We are glad that we live in the midwest time zone so we can see the ball drop an hour early.
We went to bed to be awakened by fireworks at midnight and then several fools shooting off their guns into the air.
I love the pier and I hope it can be repaired.
Great pictures. Although I don’t like alligators
Alligator alley ooops not a safe path to walk. Opening photograph was totally awesome. Happy New Year!
WOW !!!
LOVELY picrutes,
