Costa Rica: 2024

Welcome to my happy place!

Day 1 on Dominicalito

The sights and sounds of Costa Rica are familiar to us and maybe for many of my blog followers as well, like waves pummeling the shore and jungle mountains towering above. Chacalacas and howler monkeys hoot and holler in the trees. Toucans mewl. Bugs scurry. The sun blazes. But tidepools are ready and available at low tide to cool yourself. I still marvel at the ease of parking in the treeline of a worldclass beach and stepping onto the sand to watch sunset with no hassle whatsever. Instead of looking to the skies behind the beach and discovering a highrise filled with Margaritaville-style tourists, you only find coconut palms and trees that scarlet macaws like to visit for happy hour. Across from the beach in Dominical, cows and horses graze in a green meadow filled with white egrets.

Day 7 at Whale’s Tail.

Stay tuned for more Costa Rica vibes!

This is a bonus photo from 2016 of the Ventanas (which means window) caves for my friend Lisa. She didn’t get to see this regional highlight. Safe travels to Fortuna and beyond!

I’m very late commenting today… I’m amazed at how quickly the days fly by again in the new year.

Your post is a feast for the eyes in many ways. A very welcome change when I look out of the window here at how rainy and dreary it is here. Well… it’s January, it’s winter time. It’s supposed to get really cold in the next few days (-10 C°) and it’s supposed to snow. Thank you for your contribution to

Once again, best wishes for a healthy, happy new year 2024,
