Kanab and Beyond…

Washes, slots, and rocks...

Day 16

This collage reflects a hiking inferno at Lick Wash.

The whole trip felt like a firestorm. My cold and flu symptoms persisted mercilessly, and I even contracted food poisoning the day we flew home. Sigh. Life is like that sometimes. But happy travel memories endure, like the burgers and fries at Big Al’s in Kanab, the marvels of rock at Lick Wash, and the breathtaking views at Bryce Canyon. Las Vegas is always fun, even if all you do is drive by the exuberance of manufactured wonders.

Follow my feet, and be sure to backtrack if you missed days 1-15! I took all 21 photos with my phone, but I’ll be back with better souvenirs from my camera soon.

Day 17

We stopped by the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.

Day 18

Day 19

Back to back days at Zion National Park

Day 20

We enjoyed an epic hike at Lick Wash again. On this day, we left bright and early and the temperatures started in the 60’s and ended in the 80’s. It can be over 100 degrees in the desert and still drop into the 50’s at night.

Day 21

My favorite thing to do as an author is to leave my book somewhere on our travels. I finished three other books and left them all on the book shelf at our rental. Do you see the little alien faces on my spine? That was my idea. 🙂
