Who would have thought that this natural playground existed so close to Las Vegas? Obviously, you can see the arid mountains from town, or from your airplane window, or from the top of the Strat. However, it is much better up close. There’s a 13-mile drive in the canyon, a short boardwalk with petroglyphs on the outskirts of the park, and plenty of hikes within. We did a little of all of those things, along with my usual photo safari. Follow my feet…

After our hike, we had a picnic in a park on the way back to the strip. You must go to Lemongrass Thai for the springrolls and fried potato wontons tied with a bow. Yum!
