In 1888, Henry Morrison Flagler built the Hotel Ponce De Leon in St. Augustine, Florida. The Ponce was a marvel of architecture that was electrified by Edison Electric Company. Soon, President Grover Cleveland arrived, followed by luminary writers like Samuel Clemens and Ernest Hemingway. Flagler’s fortune was established by ties to the railroad—literally! —and by partnering with John D. Rockefeller to create the Standard Oil Company.
Now it’s a college that gives interesting, visual tours. Follow my feet.

Gorgeous architecture. Reminds me a little of Hurst Castle, but more lavish. What a cool doorknob!
That architecture is amazing, both inside and outside. Although I lived in Florida for two years I never visited St. Augustine and I only spent a few hours there once in one of my visits since. If I return to Florida, this is going to be on my list.
