I love to plant my feet in Costa Rica’s lovely brown sand. But do you know that some deranged folks think the sand along my favorite beaches is too brown? I’ve always felt that if you’re concerned about the color of a good beach, you aren’t living your best life because the Pacific edge sand is the perfect blend of soft but firm and splendid to walk on. The waves caress it, tide pools ingest it, the jungles enfold it, and pelicans soar over it. What’s not to love?
I felt uninspired about posting this week until I thought about Valentine’s Day. Here’s a bouquet for your eyes.

During our entire trip to Costa Rica earlier this year we were always amazed by how colorful things in the landscape were: birds, bushes, buildings, distant mountains, lakes… and the sky. You clearly felt it as we did.
